Describe your artistic journey. How, and why, has your music evolved?

Emily Thorner: My journey began in classical music (mainly contemporary classical) and modern opera. A year before the pandemic, I began a heart-based business in inner-healing, which then expanded when the pandemic hit. The creation of this business led to life altering discoveries both for myself and my clients about the power of sound and vibration to heal and the huge impact this has on our wellness. Beyond my own understanding at the time, I was called to merge the two worlds of music and healing, as that was the way more of the population can experience it.
I realized my purpose in creating music transcended genres, blending pop, rock, opera, and musical theater elements. This evolution reflects my commitment to using sound as a tool for healing and raising consciousness.

What inspired Prayer for Peace- your upcoming single?

Emily Thorner: Prayer for Peace is a message for us all and for the earth. This was born from my desire to address global challenges of sustainability, unity, and social justice. Like many of us, I’ve been deeply aware of both the global pain humanity has been holding for quite some time and our collective calling to be catalysts for change. My awareness of the need for such a piece was about a year ago, but I knew this was no easy feat to take on! The spoken word section was the first part to be in the song, and this came from a meditation in Dubai just before a storm while alone on the beach. My intention is for listeners to feel a collective sense of purpose and empowerment. It’s about reminding everyone that their voice matters in creating change. Every time I sing it, I picture all of us holding hands worldwide. I want people to know their voices are important, and ultimately, what is possible when we all hold the same vision of peace at the same time?

How does your TEDx message relate to the work you’ve done with Prayer for Peace?

Emily Thorner: Both the TEDx talk and “Prayer for Peace” share a common theme: the power of our voice is a catalyst for healing and transformation. I deeply believe that vocal expression can impact the world deeply and profoundly. The power of your voice is more than a sound, it’s what you and only you say in the world. Everyone has a voice that is important, and it is with all of us together that we have everything we need.

Your TEDx Talk, The Power of the Voice, is powerful. What was your key message?

Emily Thorner: Our voices have immense power, not only in singing, but in all forms of expression. Your voice is your purpose; it’s how you contribute to the world. Secondly, by bringing awareness to the patterns–both personal and historical—that affect the voice, you can strengthen and embody your voice in a new and empowered way.

Share a defining moment in the creation of Prayer for Peace.

Emily Thorner: There were so many unforgettable moments during the creation of this song. One that stands out is writing some of the text while flying over Lithuania, feeling deeply connected and profoundly tapped into my ancestral roots. As I tapped into those moments, the vision and desire for collective peace just flowed from my pen and into my red notebook.

How does your MoonRising program help individuals unlock their voices?

Emily Thorner: MoonRising helps people connect more deeply with their unique purpose and amplify it by discovering and embracing the power of their voice. By addressing the specific energetic blocks which restrict vocal expression by going to the root of where this comes from, we can fully live in and embody freedom in your voice. Additionally, clients are introduced to high frequency sound (in an intentional way), which gently guides clients to shift their baseline “frequency” as well. As a result, participants find confidence, authenticity, increased visibility, and the ability to communicate powerfully in all aspects of life. It’s one of those programs where I hear a lot of “thank you, this changed my life and how I look at and use my voice drastically,” and it’s a joy to be a part of that.

What excites you most about your upcoming projects?

Emily Thorner: Releasing “Prayer for Peace” is currently dominating my thoughts! However, following that, I’m thrilled about releasing my next single, From the Stars, which continues to explore themes of connection, consciousness and how we all come from the same place. It’s also a very empowering song that will surprise you in where it takes you…you’ll see why soon! I’m also passionate about expanding my company, MoonRising in 2025, helping even more people discover the power of their voices through “The Voice” program.
