Decorated with plush seats and huge chandeliers, British chef Gordon Ramsay’s upcoming restaurant in Kuala Lumpur is fit for a James Bond movie.
The celebrity chef of Hell’s Kitchen fame today released photos of his soon-to-open posh eatery at Sunway Resort, decked out with portraits of England’s icons like Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger and the late Bond actor Sean Connery. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the opening of the restaurant has been pushed back by nearly eight months to early next year.
“I’m super excited to introduce Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill to Malaysia,” the 55-year-old Michelin-starred chef said. “This is a concept that was born in London and exudes British sophistication. We wanted this new restaurant to showcase all these qualities and more.”
The Malaysian restaurant will be the first Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill outlet outside of the U.K, where the reality cooking show star runs three branches in London’s Mayfair, Chelsea, and Park Walk. Ramsay has yet to reveal the menu for his Malaysian outlet, but teased that it might somehow pay homage to local culture.
“Most of all, it should reflect the passion for gastronomy that I know is so deep-rooted in Malaysian culture. I want to take our diners on a journey and I can’t wait to reveal this exceptional new restaurant soon,” he said.
What’s definitely on offer would be the chef’s signature beef wellington, private rooms for diners looking for some quiet time, a wine cellar complete with an in-house sommelier, and a sweeping view of Malaysia’s capital. In the meantime, here are some photos to get you excited:
