What inspired you to create Learning Success Academy and your other ventures like Mathcodes, Learning Success Coaches, and Personal Development 4 Parenting?

Kohila Sivas: My journey into creating Learning Success Academy and other ventures like MathCodes, Learning Success Coaches, and Personal Development 4 Parenting stems from a deep desire to empower students, parents, and educators with tools for lifelong success. I saw firsthand the limitations of traditional education systems and wanted to create a new path—one that focused on wholistic learning, emotional intelligence, and personalized growth. I believe that learning should not only be about academic achievement but also about unlocking each individual’s potential in every area of life.

As a student, I struggled deeply with learning challenges and personal issues. At one point, these struggles became overwhelming, and I decided to end my life. Surviving that experience gave me a profound sense of purpose, which is the driving force behind all my work. I am passionate about creating environments and tools that help others avoid the same dark path, showing them that there is always hope, potential, and a way forward.

When I finished work, I studied until bedtime, and the same routine continued on weekends.

This kept going on and on, making me wonder about people with different body shapes. I thought about the connection between body shapes, like men with potbellies and others who seemed more active. So, I started looking if there’s anything related to that.

I did find something very interesting. I discovered there were four categories you can put people in, which is more of a problem with the liver versus the thyroid versus the ovary versus the adrenal. So that’s what developed the four body types. But then after doing that for a while, I noticed that every time I would put people on a low-carb diet, they would just always do so much better. And so that’s where I really started going deeper into the ketogenic diet.

If you look at my original book, I was recommending apples and snacks like nuts, and that was not a good idea. I changed that and upgraded my book. That was when I started getting into keto at that point.

What books have you written for parents, and how do they help families navigate learning and personal development?

Kohila Sivas: One of my key books is Cracking the Parenting Codes, which was written to help parents navigate the complexities of raising children in today’s world. This book provides 9 parenting codes that give parents practical strategies and insights on how to foster learning, resilience, and personal growth in children, while also offering tools for parents to manage their own challenges. My goal was to give parents a roadmap for creating a nurturing and successful environment for their children. I am also excited to share that I will be publishing the next set of codes for parents in 2025, further expanding on the insights and strategies needed to support families in their unique journeys.

“Blissful living is not about the absence of problems, but about finding joy and contentment in the midst of them. It's living with an attitude that everything is solvable.”

What does the term neurogrowth mean, and how does it guide your learning philosophy?

Kohila Sivas: NeuroGrowth is a term that refers to the process of developing and optimizing the brain’s capacity for learning, emotional intelligence, and personal growth. It involves tapping into the brain’s neuroplasticity—the ability to reorganize itself and create new neural connections based on learning and experience. This philosophy guides all of my work in education and coaching, emphasizing that with the right mindset, strategies, and support, anyone can grow and succeed beyond their current limitations.

At the heart of this approach is the understanding that anyone can learn. My methodology, the Meta-Learning DeStress Method, helps learners diminish outdated neural pathways that no longer serve them and develop new pathways that empower them to take action. Additionally, the “Talk to Your Brain” method teaches learners how to take control of their brains and command the actions they want to pursue. This process fosters the development of a winning mindset, which I refer to as MindSoil Cultivation—the practice of nurturing and cultivating a fertile mental environment for growth and success, and this is done at the neurological level.

What is the difference between traditional tutoring, teaching, and wholistic neurogrowth learning success coaching?

Kohila Sivas: Traditional tutoring focuses on subject-specific support, helping students address particular areas of difficulty within their academic subjects. Teaching, on the other hand, is more general and typically follows a set curriculum designed to cover a broad range of topics.

Wholistic NeuroGrowth Learning Success Coaching goes beyond both tutoring and teaching. This coaching model addresses the whole student, placing the learner at the center of the process. We prioritize understanding how each individual learns and why, rather than simply delivering content or focusing on what they need to learn. Our approach is individualized and personalized, ensuring that we recognize the unique mindset of each learner.

We customize plans and programs that are as unique as the students themselves, adapting to their specific needs, strengths, and challenges. Our coaching looks beyond all labels and emphasizes wholistic development. We empower students not only to improve their grades but also to cultivate the skills and resilience they need to thrive in all areas of life.

Why did you launch the Wholistic Neurogrowth Life Success Coaching Program, and how does it complement your Learning Success Coaching model?

Kohila Sivas: I launched the program because I saw the need for a broader, life-centered approach to coaching. While Learning Success Coaching focuses on academic and personal development for students, Life Success Coaching is designed for individuals of all ages who want to achieve success in various aspects of life, such as career, relationships, emotional well-being, and personal growth. It’s about helping individuals find their path, set meaningful goals, and breakthrough limiting beliefs to create a fulfilling life.

Everyone is struggling with many challenges, and the rise in mental health issues highlights the importance of life coaching as a new norm for all human beings. In our increasingly connected world, many people often feel authentically disconnected. Life Success Coaching addresses this disconnection by fostering deeper self-awareness and encouraging individuals to cultivate genuine relationships, both with themselves and others. By bridging the gap between personal struggles and wholistic growth, we empower individuals to lead fulfilling lives that reflect their true potential.

How do you identify the signs that a student might benefit from Wholistic Neurogrowth Coaching?

Kohila Sivas: Some signs that a student might benefit from Wholistic NeuroGrowth Coaching include feeling overwhelmed or stuck in their academic journey, struggling with emotional regulation, lacking confidence in their abilities, and having difficulty staying motivated. These students often feel as though traditional approaches do not address their deeper needs.

A whole child, whole family approach is essential for supporting a struggling student. Unlike traditional tutoring, which often focuses solely on academic subjects, Wholistic NeuroGrowth Coaching looks at the broader context of a child’s life and addresses the real root causes of their challenges, including emotional, social, and family dynamics. Labels can be limiting and often hold students back from reaching their full potential. Our coaching method goes beyond these labels to understand how each student learns and the unique circumstances surrounding them. By identifying and tackling the underlying issues, we can help end their struggles and pave the way for lasting growth and success.

You have a mission to impact 1.5 million students by 2035. What are some key steps you’re taking to achieve this goal?

Kohila Sivas: To achieve this ambitious goal, I am focusing on expanding Learning Success Coaches, training more certified coaches to spread the Wholistic NeuroGrowth methodology, and developing scalable programs that can reach students globally. Additionally, I am utilizing platforms like Learning Success Academy to create accessible resources and programs for parents, educators, and students to improve learning outcomes.

A key initiative we are launching is our Pay It Forward Coaching program, designed to serve families in need. This program aims to provide specialized support to students facing challenges, ensuring that all children, regardless of their background, have access to the tools and guidance necessary for their growth and success. By focusing on inclusivity and accessibility, this initiative will significantly contribute to fulfilling our mission to impact 1.5 million students by 2035.

“To truly succeed, it’s essential to develop a MindSoil that supports perseverance and adaptability.”

How do you integrate wellness into your coaching frameworks?

Kohila Sivas: Wellness is a central component of all my coaching frameworks. I believe that physical, emotional, and mental well-being are critical to success in both education and life. Our wholistic model examines all aspects of the learner, recognizing that these elements are interconnected and essential for overall growth.

The problem is that we often compartmentalize these vital components and work on them in isolation. To truly support our students, we need a wholistic plan for success that addresses their well-being as a whole. By fostering an environment where wellness is prioritized alongside academic achievement, we empower learners to thrive in every area of their lives.

Why do you say hard work and smart work won’t work alone? What is needed then?

Kohila Sivas: Hard Work and Mind Work are both essential elements of success. Hard Work refers to the effort and discipline needed to achieve goals, while Mind Work focuses on mindset. In my coaching, Mind Work is about taking control and commanding our minds to work on our terms. When you can control and command the actions of your brain, you can effectively integrate Smart Work and Hard Work, amplifying your results and performance by 100X. Relying solely on Hard Work and Smart Work over time can lead to burnout and self-doubt, causing learners to question their abilities.

To truly succeed, it’s essential to develop a MindSoil that supports perseverance and adaptability. By integrating Mind Work into the equation, we empower individuals to not only put in the effort but also to work smarter, ensuring that their hard work translates into meaningful outcomes.

Kohila

What advice would you give to parents struggling with their kids’ learning?

Kohila Sivas: We have to shift our focus from solely concentrating on the struggles to understanding why your child is facing difficulties. Don’t pressure them for academic success until you’ve figured out the root causes of their challenges. Engage in open conversations to uncover their feelings and obstacles, as this can provide valuable insights into their learning process.

I also encourage parents to seek support through coaching, community resources, or personal development opportunities. This can help shift their mindset from feeling inadequate to feeling empowered. Remember, you are not alone in this journey, and reaching out for help can make a significant difference for both you and your child. This is why I created Personal Development 4 Parenting—because it’s not always easy to know what the right steps to take are.

What is the biggest problem parents are facing now?

Kohila Sivas: One of the biggest challenges parents face today is the overwhelming amount of information available in a world filled with conflicting advice. Many parents feel confused and unsure about what approaches to take, especially with the rise of gentle parenting and positive parenting methods, which are often seen as more beneficial than overly strict, punishment-based parenting.

However, these modern approaches do have downsides. Gentle and positive parenting can sometimes leave children without the guidance and boundaries they need from their parents. When kids are young, it’s crucial for parents to establish boundaries that allow them to explore while feeling secure. These invisible boundaries communicate to children that they are loved and supported, providing the structure they need to thrive.

Ultimately, parents must find a balance between nurturing their children’s independence and ensuring they have the guidance necessary to navigate the complexities of growing up. It’s about creating an environment where children can explore freely while knowing that they have clear boundaries that help them feel safe and supported.

What is the new parenting model for the 21st century and the future?

Kohila Sivas: I created Wholistic Proactive Parenting, a new parenting model for the 21st century. This model focuses on a wholistic partnership between parent and child, where children are empowered to explore within boundaries that signify love and support. In this approach, children have the freedom to express themselves and make choices while knowing they have the guidance and support of their parents.

Historically, parenting models have varied widely, often characterized by authoritarian approaches that prioritize obedience and conformity. These models typically emphasize control and discipline, sometimes at the expense of emotional connection. As societal norms have evolved, more permissive styles have emerged, emphasizing warmth and responsiveness but often lacking the necessary boundaries that children need for security. Parenting has become more about reacting rather than thoughtfully responding to children’s needs.

This is why I created Wholistic Proactive Parenting. It involves establishing invisible boundaries that provide a framework of love and care. These boundaries act as a gateway for children to explore their world while knowing they have access to their parents for guidance when needed. Such invisible boundaries communicate to children that they are loved and supported, creating a safe space for exploration.

This environment encourages kids to take risks and learn from their experiences while having a grounding presence to fall back on. By fostering an environment where children feel secure enough to explore independently, parents help them build confidence and resilience. This independence is crucial for their development, as it teaches them how to navigate challenges and make decisions. The model emphasizes that while children are free to explore, they can always turn to their parents to discuss their thoughts, feelings, or challenges. This accessibility strengthens the parent-child relationship and reinforces trust.

Wholistic Proactive Parenting is not about managing behaviors; it’s about cultivating a strong, supportive relationship that lays the groundwork for both parents’ and child’s success as partners in learning and growth.

Since you work with many teachers and educators, what is the biggest challenge teachers are facing?

Kohila Sivas: One of the biggest challenges teachers face today is the inability to teach in an environment that truly fosters learning. Many educators find themselves constrained by outdated educational models that prioritize rigid curricula and standardized testing, which do not accommodate the diverse needs of their students.

As a result, the most significant deficit in our learners is their attention and focus. Students often feel disengaged and overwhelmed, impacting their ability to absorb information and thrive academically. Teachers, too, are feeling the strain. Many passionate educators are leaving the profession because they are burned out and frustrated by their inability to help their students effectively.

I have helped hundreds of passionate teachers regain their enthusiasm for teaching by fostering a new environment that encourages learning and creativity. By creating spaces where educators can innovate and find what truly works for their students, we can break the cycle of dissatisfaction. Adopting this approach not only benefits the teachers but also empowers students to engage more fully in their learning journeys.

How do most kids feel about school and education since the COVID shutdown?

Kohila Sivas: With more time spent on screens, kids have become accustomed to consuming content that demands less engagement, leading to shorter attention spans. This shift has resulted in a desire for more immediate gratification, making traditional learning methods feel outdated and uninteresting. Many children are bored with the current educational model, which often feels rigid and uninspired compared to the interactive and flexible online environments they experienced during remote learning. This disengagement is a significant concern, as it can lead to a decline in motivation and interest in academic pursuits.

The combination of social anxiety, increased screen time, and disengagement from learning has contributed to a rise in mental health issues among students. Feelings of frustration and helplessness about their education can exacerbate these challenges.

This is why Learning Success Academy offers Wholistic Neuro-Growth Learning and Life Success Coaching support. Our approach aims to address these challenges by providing personalized and supportive educational experiences that foster emotional well-being, resilience, and active engagement in learning. By focusing on the whole child, we create an environment where students feel safe, supported, and excited to explore their potential.

As a visionary leader, what do you see as the future of education and personal development, and how do you plan to continue making an impact?

Kohila Sivas: I believe the future of education will move towards a more personalized, wholistic approach that focuses on individual growth and emotional well-being alongside academic achievement. Technology will play a significant role in making learning accessible to everyone, but emotional intelligence and wellness will become just as important as academic success.

I plan to continue making an impact by expanding the reach of Learning Success Coaches, training more educators, and creating innovative programs that integrate these core principles into education systems worldwide. Additionally, I will be launching a platform for Personal Development 4 Parents, which will support them in a world where new parenting structures are often missing. This platform aims to equip parents with the tools and resources they need to navigate the complexities of modern parenting and foster environments where their children can thrive. From Traditional Educator to Revolutionary Mentor

Kohila’s journey in education began in a traditional setting, where she followed the conventional path of teaching. But it didn’t take long for her to realize that something crucial was missing. By integrating principles from neuroscience, education, and emotional intelligence, the MathCodes Method helps students move beyond frustration, fear, and self-doubt. Her approach is not about teaching math in isolation; it’s about teaching students how to learn and think critically, a skill set that can be applied beyond the classroom.

By blending traditional educational practices with modern technology, Kohila offers dynamic, engaging learning experiences that transcend geographical barriers.
