  • Provide clients with advice and encouragement on Optavia program meal plans, product selections, exercise, and general direction in order to help them achieve lifelong transformation.
  • Clients will receive one-on-one assistance with the Habits of Health System.
  • Client participation in the Optavia Community, which includes support activities, should be encouraged (i.e., calls, webinars, events, etc.).
  • Report any negative reactions to the program and/or items to Nutrition Support (e.g., if a client is hospitalized etc.)

Optavia Health Coaches Encourage Clients To Seek Support Professionally For:

  • Recommendations for certain drug adjustments
  • Medical advice that is specific.
  • Prescriptions for certain fitness programs.
  • Anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, depression, anxiety, marital troubles, emotional concerns (e.g., trauma, grief, and hopelessness), and other psychological/psychiatric issues are addressed through behavioral counseling.

As Defined By The Academy Of Nutrition And Dietetics, Providing Medical Nutrition Therapy Includes:

Medical nutrition therapy (MNT) is an application of the Nutrition Care Process that is based on scientific evidence. 

MNT may comprise one or more of the following: nutrition assessment/re-assessment, nutrition diagnosis, nutrition intervention, and nutrition monitoring and evaluation, with the goal of preventing, delaying, or managing diseases and/or conditions. (Subcommittee on Scope of Practice, 2012)
