What inspired you to launch The Designer Genes Co., and was there a personal health journey that led you to DNA-based wellness?
Lindsey Strong: I created the solutions that I searched for, far and wide– literally since childhood! After years of exhaustive functional testing and visits to countless practitioners and specialists, DNA testing turned out to be the missing link in healing my leaky gut, food allergies, hormonal imbalances, and so much more. I couldn’t believe how many answers came from just one little swab of my cheek!
How do you see genetic testing empowering women, especially when it comes to understanding their hormones and long-term health?
Lindsey Strong: This technology is wildly empowering! It’s like having the ultimate user’s guide to your body, and as women, we need all the help we can get! Your genes hold the key to understanding how your body responds to nutrition, exercise, supplements, hormonal pathways, and even cellular aging. When you work with your genes, you can fast-track your progress and truly start to reverse the clock.
Many women struggle with generic health advice that doesn’t work for them. How does bio-individuality reshape how we approach wellness and fitness?
Lindsey Strong: Personalization is the key to sustainable results. We’re more informed than ever– often because we’ve had to fend for ourselves in search of real answers. We’ve lived through all the trends: calorie restriction, low-fat diets, keto, and everything in between. Now, we’re finally realizing that these extremes can backfire or never work at all. It’s time to work smarter. And we believe that starts with understanding your unique chemistry by unlocking your DNA cheat codes! It’ll change the way you view trends forever.
How does The Designer Genes Co. help women understand their hormone cycles in a way that impacts daily habits like nutrition, stress management, or exercise?
Lindsey Strong: Our testing is next-level when it comes to identifying what truly works and what doesn’t. Backed by decades of research, we know exactly how certain genetic patterns respond to daily lifestyle factors like diet, workout types, stress, and more. When you can clearly see where your body thrives and where it needs support, the guesswork disappears and results go far beyond anything else on the market. We’re moving way beyond basic, black-and-white advice. Instead, we focus on deep cellular optimization: hormonal receptors, detox pathways, and biochemistry you won’t uncover with traditional testing. This could mean a custom mix of nutritional guidance, targeted supplements, or lifestyle interventions like breathwork or sauna– but only the solutions that are proven to work like magic for your body. Because they’re literally designed for your unique chemistry!
What health insights do women typically discover from their DNA reports that surprise them most?
Lindsey Strong: A lot of women are surprised to learn that some of the trendiest “health” staples might actually be making them feel worse- things like collagen powders, matcha, or even yogurt! Many of us are supplement junkies, too– but our testing often reveals that you’ve been spending money on the wrong ingredients for your body. The good news? It’s a huge relief when everything is finally mapped out, and can drop the confusion and overwhelm. We also provide powerful insights around longevity and antioxidant strategies that can improve things like sleep quality, mood, hair, skin, and nails– real, visible benefits from supporting your body at the cellular level.
Once someone has their DNA results, how does your team support the integration of that knowledge into everyday wellness routines?
Lindsey Strong: The coaching experience is what truly brings your DNA results to life. Automated testing can’t account for you– your goals, your preferences, or your pace. That’s why we pair every client with a certified expert who walks you through your results and helps you create a plan that actually fits your lifestyle. Some clients want to do a full 180; others prefer to take it one small step at a time. Both approaches work– but the key is making it your own. If it doesn’t fit your life, it won’t stick. We also offer access to our client app and forums so that you’re never navigating this journey alone! With this much powerful information, questions will come up and that’s where our coaches and community shine, offering ongoing clarity, motivation and support.
In a world flooded with health advice, how do you ensure your clients don’t feel overwhelmed but rather empowered by their genomic data?
Lindsey Strong: It feels completely different when you know that every recommendation is tailored specifically for you, not just another overwhelming list of “shoulds.” That’s where the coaching session becomes essential. Your coach helps you identify exactly where to begin and maps out the most effective next steps for your lifestyle. Most of our clients return to their results again and again over the years. You don’t have to do everything at once to feel remarkable benefits. In fact, it can be as simple as starting with the correct supplements– which we can even blend into a custom formula based on your results!
What role do you believe personalized genomics will play in the future of women’s longevity and hormone health, especially in aging well?
Lindsey Strong: I believe personalized genomics will play a central role in the future of women’s longevity and hormone health. This technology is moving to the forefront because it delivers personalized data you simply can’t find anywhere else- like insights into estrogen receptors and metabolism, methylation, detox pathways, antioxidant production, and more. When it comes to aging well, it just doesn’t make sense to have the conversation without these insights.
How do hormonal changes during perimenopause or menopause show up in DNA testing, and how can women use that data to age later and feel better longer?
Lindsey Strong: We see a wide range of genetic markers related to perimenopause and menopause and the sooner you start optimizing your DNA, the better you’ll navigate these hormonal shifts. While it’s still important to use basic labs to assess current hormone levels, our focus is on how your body processes those hormones. For example, your hormone receptor function can significantly influence how intense your symptoms are likely to be. We also look at hormone conversion and metabolism so you’ll understand how well your body might respond to HRT or herbal support before dealing with trial-and-error or unwanted side effects. Even changes in cholesterol, belly fat distribution, sleep disruption, and mood swings show up in our reports. It’s all connected and it’s all there!
What’s your ultimate vision for The Designer Genes Co.? Do you see this becoming a new standard for preventative health or even reshaping how we approach wellness for women entirely?
Lindsey Strong: My vision is for every woman to have access to this kind of testing because it’s truly life-changing. We’re entering a new era of women’s wellness, one that’s more advanced than anything previous generations could have imagined. This is a new day, and we finally get to be in the driver’s seat of our own health journey. We can expect to feel better than ever and for longer. The best part? It doesn’t have to be hard. We just have to work smarter!
