New York is the most skincare-obsessed state in America, a new study reveals.

The research, carried out by CBD and Hemp resource, Nature and Bloom, used Google Keyword Planner to find how frequently each state is searching for skincare products and search terms. These terms were combined to find each state’s average monthly searches for skincare-related terms per 100,000 people.

The study revealed that New York ranks as the state most interested in skincare. With 442 searches per 100,000 people, New York topped the list with the highest search levels for skincare terms related to cleansers, exfoliators, eye creams, moisturizers, serums, and toners of all 50 states. It also had the second-highest searches related to anti-aging creams and the third-highest number of searches for sunscreen-related terms.

A spokesperson for Nature and Bloom commented on the findings:

“Google Trends recorded a 144% increase in searches for skincare over the past five years. This noticeable surge in skincare interest across the United States can be attributed, in part, to the rise of social media platforms that offer valuable guidance for beginners seeking to establish an effective skincare routine. This can come in the form of implementing a new addition to your skincare collection, such as a CBD based product or tips and tricks for how to apply the products.

“This study offers fascinating insights into the states with the most significant interest in skincare. Notably, New York and California rank among the top three, aligning with their reputation as fashion-forward states that embrace self-expression through appearance. Furthermore, it is no surprise that Hawaii has the highest number of searches for sunscreen, considering its abundance of sunshine.

“As the beauty industry continues to evolve, it is crucial to recognize the growing significance of skincare and its impact on individuals’ overall well-being. This study is a valuable resource for professionals and enthusiasts, shedding light on the states that lead the way in embracing skincare practices.”
