As we begin, please share your origin story with us.
Cindy Witteman: My origin story is rooted in overcoming adversity and discovering the power of self-development. Growing up, I faced significant financial struggles and, as a young adult, even sold plasma to make ends meet. My family’s financial hardships shaped my early life, but it was also during this time that I saw hope through my father’s financial stability, which sparked a belief that change was possible.
As a single mother, my journey of transformation truly began. I encountered both personal and financial challenges, especially after escaping a domestic violence situation. Despite feeling lost and overwhelmed, my resilience grew, and I embarked on a self-development journey. My turning point came when I discovered Think and Grow Rich, a book that reshaped my mindset and taught me the transformative power of gratitude and positive thinking. I also faced and conquered many fears along the way, including a crippling fear of public speaking. Through sheer determination, I pushed myself to embrace opportunities, “doing it afraid,” until I was able to speak confidently in front of audiences. Over the years, I channeled my experiences into creating opportunities for others through multiple ventures, including my nonprofit Driving Single Parents, FORCE Magazine and Little Give – TV Show. My journey from a place of desperation to empowerment is proof of the power of self-belief, persistence, and the willingness to take risks in pursuit of personal and collective transformation. Now, I use my story to inspire others, showing that it’s possible to turn hardship into opportunity and create lasting change.
Balancing so many roles, TV host, author, and nonprofit founder, requires incredible discipline. What does a typical day look like for you? How do you incorporate and ensure time for self-care?
Cindy Witteman: Balancing the many roles I play—TV host, author, nonprofit founder, and founder and editor-in-chief of FORCE Magazine—requires a lot of discipline and planning. A typical day for me starts early, and I’ve learned that structure is essential. I begin with a morning routine that includes some form of exercise, whether it’s a workout, a run, or both, to get my energy going. I also take a few moments for gratitude and reflection to set a positive tone for the day. I prioritize my tasks by urgency and importance. Each day has a mix of writing, meetings, working on Little Give – TV Show, and working on nonprofit initiatives for Driving Single Parents. I schedule specific time blocks for each responsibility, but I also allow flexibility for unforeseen tasks or opportunities. It’s crucial for me to stay organized with a detailed calendar and to-do list. Despite my busy schedule, I always ensure there’s time for self-care. It’s easy to get caught up in the demands of work, but I’ve learned that taking care of myself is essential for being effective in all the roles I take on. I make time to unwind with a good book, connect with my family, or enjoy my hobby of beekeeping. And of course, Andrew and I incorporate 3 date nights per week into our calendars to keep our connection strong, whether it’s a quiet evening at home or a special outing. Self-care for me also includes mental and emotional well-being, so I ensure I have moments of solitude to reflect, think in ink, or simply breathe. This balance helps me stay grounded and gives me the energy I need to keep showing up for the people and projects that matter most to me.
Can you share a daily habit or ritual that has been instrumental in maintaining your sense of peace and balance?
Cindy Witteman: One daily habit that has been instrumental in maintaining my sense of peace and balance is the practice of writing. Writing is essential for me because it helps me clear my mind, process thoughts, and stay focused. I refer to it as “thinking in ink,” and it has become a powerful ritual that keeps me grounded. Each day, I take time to write down my thoughts, reflections, and intentions. It serves as a form of mental release, allowing me to organize my ideas and create a clear path forward.
What’s even more impactful is how this practice helps me set goals. By writing, I create an aiming point for my daily, monthly, and yearly goals. It allows me to break down large aspirations into manageable steps, helping me stay on track and measure progress. Whether it’s mapping out tasks for the day or revisiting bigger dreams, writing helps me stay motivated and focused. Thinking in ink also provides clarity when life gets busy. I can revisit my written goals to recalibrate and realign, ensuring I stay focused on what’s most important. It’s a ritual that brings me peace, helps me stay organized, and allows me to track how far I’ve come in achieving my aspirations. In this way, it’s more than just a habit; it’s a vital tool that ensures I maintain balance while juggling all the various roles and responsibilities in my life.
What role did self-care play in your journey? How has it evolved over the years? How has it evolved as you transitioned into TV Hosting, Authoring, and Entrepreneurship?
Cindy Witteman: Self-care has played a pivotal role in my journey, and its importance has evolved significantly over the years. In the beginning, when life felt overwhelming—especially as a single mom struggling financially—I didn’t prioritize self-care. I was focused on survival and getting through each day, so taking time for myself seemed like a luxury I couldn’t afford. But as I began my self-development journey, I realized that I couldn’t give my best to others if I didn’t first take care of myself.
As I transitioned into TV hosting, writing, and entrepreneurship, self-care became even more crucial. The demands of these roles required more energy, focus, and emotional resilience, which meant I had to build self-care practices into my routine, not just for relaxation, but for my mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Early on, I incorporated small changes, like exercising in the mornings to boost my energy, and taking moments for gratitude to shift my mindset. Over time, these habits grew into more intentional practices. I began to value boundaries more, ensuring I took regular breaks and protected my time for family, personal reflection, and activities that recharge me. As I transitioned into these new roles, my self-care routine had to evolve. There’s a fine balance between being present for the people I work with and ensuring I’m not overwhelmed by the constant demands of multiple projects. Today, I prioritize holistic self-care, which includes exercise, time for reflection, and moments of solitude. I’ve also become more intentional about my emotional and mental health. Writing, as I mentioned, is one of my self-care tools, allowing me to think in ink and release any stress, anxiety, or overwhelm. Self-care now includes not just physical rest, but the energy I spend protecting my mental health and nurturing the relationships that matter most. It’s about finding joy in my work and feeling aligned with my purpose while also setting aside time to rest, recharge, and be fully present in my personal life. Over the years, I’ve learned that true success is not just about accomplishing goals, but about ensuring that I stay healthy and balanced while doing so.

In your work as an Action Mastery Coach, how do you help clients identify and overcome barriers to their mental and emotional wellness?
Cindy Witteman: In my work as an Action Mastery Coach, I help clients identify and overcome barriers to their mental and emotional wellness by first creating a safe, open space for them to reflect on their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. We explore any limiting beliefs, fears, or patterns that might be blocking their progress or holding them back from living their fullest lives. Through this process, I help clients recognize these obstacles and understand how they’ve shaped their mindset. We then work on shifting these limiting thoughts and beliefs into empowering ones. I guide clients in developing emotional resilience so they can respond to challenges with a clearer, stronger mindset. Together, we set actionable goals that align with their true desires, breaking down larger obstacles into smaller, manageable steps.
I also help clients develop tools for stress management and self-awareness, so they can consistently practice strategies to maintain emotional balance. By focusing on practical, actionable steps, I empower my clients to overcome their barriers and create lasting change in their mental and emotional wellness—making them feel confident in their abilities to take action toward their ultimate goals.
What role do community and connection play in the healing and wellness journeys of your clients and collaborators?
Cindy Witteman: Community and connection are essential in the healing and wellness journeys of my clients and collaborators. A supportive network helps break feelings of isolation, provides encouragement, and fosters accountability. For clients, being part of a community reminds them they’re not alone, boosting motivation and confidence. In my collaborations, strong connections create a space for mutual support and growth, where everyone can thrive. Ultimately, community strengthens the healing process, offering emotional support and shared wisdom, making the journey toward wellness more empowering and fulfilling.
As a leader managing multiple roles, how do you prevent burnout?
Cindy Witteman: As a leader managing multiple roles, I prevent burnout by taking control of my calendar rather than letting it control me. I prioritize my time and ensure I create a balance between work, self-care, and family. By setting clear boundaries, delegating tasks when possible, and scheduling breaks, I make sure I’m not overwhelming myself. I also regularly reassess my workload to ensure I’m staying aligned with my goals and values, which helps me stay focused and energized. This proactive approach to time management allows me to stay productive without burning out.
What lessons have you learned about balancing the needs of others with your well-being? As a 5x-best-selling author, do you share these stories in your books?
Cindy Witteman: One of the most important lessons I’ve learned about balancing the needs of others with my well-being is the value of boundaries. As much as I want to support those around me—whether it’s my family, clients, or collaborators—I’ve realized that I can’t give my best if I’m not taking care of myself first. Setting boundaries is essential for maintaining my energy and ensuring I’m present when it matters most. I’ve also learned that saying “no” when needed is not a sign of selfishness, but an act of self-preservation, enabling me to give more in the long run. As a 5x best-selling author, I do share these lessons in my books. I believe that my experiences, including the challenges of balancing multiple roles while staying true to my well-being, are relatable to many people. By sharing my journey, I aim to show readers that it’s possible to serve others without sacrificing themselves. My stories are meant to inspire others to prioritize their own wellness and create a balance that works for them, no matter how demanding life or work may be.
What small, actionable steps would you recommend for anyone looking to prioritize wellness while juggling life’s many responsibilities?
Cindy Witteman: To prioritize wellness while juggling life’s many responsibilities, I recommend taking control of your calendar and focusing on what gives you your “ROE”—Return on Energy. This means identifying the activities and commitments that energize you and align with your values. Once you know what drains you versus what lifts you, make sure to prioritize those things that bring you fulfillment. By structuring your time around what gives you energy, your work will feel less like a burden and more like a passion. This approach helps create a more balanced life, where both your personal and professional experiences are fulfilling and enjoyable. Additionally, don’t forget to schedule self-care and downtime into your calendar to ensure you’re recharging regularly. A well-balanced calendar is key to maintaining wellness and staying energized in all areas of life.
